Matua Pepe - Mau Rakau expert

Matua Pepe helped Rooms 14 and 8 celebrate the beginning of Maori Language Week with a workshop on mau rakau. Matua is a Pouwaru in mau rakau (defensive stick fighting) which is the equivalent of holding a Black Belt in Karate.
He emphasised that you need to be fit and strong, and eat the correct food to be an elite athlete.
We enjoyed his session so much, we are arranging for Matua to come back and take a small group of students for extended training.

Caricature Dana

We found a really cool website that we can design a person who looks like us, and this is me and I look pretty (and in real life, too!).

"MAMA DON'T ALLOW"

"MAMA DON'T ALLOW" by Flexitoon Puppets is a funny song about how your mum isn't letting you play music in the house. The puppets have re-released this song.
We are going to perform it at this Friday's assembly and watch out in the front, because I will be playing the guitar!

2 New Students!

Room 14 welcomes Cody and Taine who have joined us from Room 8. We wish them a happy and successful 2nd half of the year!
They say that this is a good idea because people in this class have higher grades and it's the best class!

The Commonwealth Games Matrix

We have to complete 60 points from 48 tasks in the Commonwealth Games matrix. We can score 1 - 6 points depending how difficult the task is.
We can do it out of school time and that's good because we will probably finish quicker and complete more tasks.

The Commonwealth Games

Room 14 has had an exciting start to the term. Our major topic of study for this term is the Commonwealth Games.
Go and visit the Games' official site:

Inspired by Wesley College!

Tomorrow afternoon our Year 7 boys are going to be performing an amazing act in front of the whole entire school. We have stage fright and we are all nervous, but tomorrow we will be brilliant, so come watch and enjoy 'Under the boardwalk'!
We were inspired when Wesley College came personally to our syndicate and taught us a few skills and dance moves. We are using the first bit that they taugh us in our dance moves tomorrow.

Old Room 14'ers through to the final!

Brooke, Shannon, Rose, Georgia and Pagan have been successful in having their garment make it through to the final of the Trash to Fashion Awards to be held in Auckland City on 4 September.
Our thanks go to Shelley for all her support and encouragement!
