'Ode to Joy'

Room 14 has been learning to play 'Ode to Joy' on the keyboard. This is what we played along to...with a lot of laughs!

Arabella at the WPS Speech Competition

I felt good after I got it over and done with, but I felt that it was really short.

The speech competition was really fun and even though you might have something wrong with you and you might not be the same as everyone, you can still go for your dreams and not give up, like Ladyhawke!

Tom's BIG jump!

I am surprised that I went up 2 whole levels in my persuasive writing in two terms. Now I'm working at a 4P level and I was working at a 2A level. When 3 teachers were marking my writing, they started laughing - I feel pleased that I got my own teacher laughing and 2 others.

I reckon I improved because I practise twice a week at home, and at school we have practised to do paragraphs, punctuation and use Martion Luther King as an exemplar.

Here is the start of my persuasive writing:

In 2011 the Year 7's should go on the great Awhitu Camp, becasue it's just great. You get away from nagging parents and the teachers stop being bossy.

Anna's Ladyhawke speech movie

'Old' Room 14'ers enter Trash to Fashion!

Over the last few weeks, Brooke, Pagan, Rose, Georgia and Shannon had spent their spare time constructing their entry for the Waitakere City Council's Trash to Fashion awards. Their entry is based on a mythical creature, the wife of Maui, who leaves the Manukau Harbour to become a human being in order that she may protect the environment.
This Saturday, Shannon will model the garment at the semi-finals in Waitakere City.
Good luck, we hope you win!

Kids for Kids fantastic night!

Eleanor, Sophie, Arabella, Shay, Kelsey, Sian and Zyra had a spectacular time last night singing in the Kids for Kids concert at the Pukekohe Town Hall.
We were so proud of them as they captured the audience's attention and lit up the hall with excitment and spectacularly super sweet singing!
Tia, another Waiuku student performed 'Over the rainbow' like a professional.
It was so much fun for both the children and the audience.

AJ's Self-portrait:

This painting was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, because I had to paint a realistic self-portrait.

The challenge for me was mixing the colours to make my skin colour using the primary colours and white.

I feel awesome about art, because I learn new skills like mixing primary colours to make other colours.
