Waikaremoana

Sian brought her great grandfather's painting titled 'Waikaremoana' into school today for us to enjoy.
She thinks it is painted in the Impressionist style because there is not very much detail, but it gives the impression of a small waterfall with trees by the side. At home, Sian has three of his other paintings, one of them is of the ocean, another is of a lake and her favourite one is of a lighthouse with a very calm ocean with reflections in the water.

Ti Rakau

The class really enjoyed learning how to use Ti Rakau. I was the leader and called out the different names. I thought that I learned how to use it too, and I enjoyed being the leader.
Sophie won, and she says it was fun and it was tricky. She learned how to use ti rakau properly.

New Commonwealth Games Logo

This design was inspired by Keith Haring's art and represented all the different people coming together at the Commonwealth Games.
My mum told me to draw a template but I said no, because everyone is different. I drew them individually to stick with the idea of all the different people coming together.

Matrix Paper Doll

For Term 3 we are doing a matrix and I chose number 17 which was dress a paper doll in a uniform for the New Zealand Commonwealth team.
I decided to use something related to New Zealand to put on the clothes, so I chose the green koru and stuck one on every piece of clothing, and wrote New Zealand on them too, so they will stand out.
I put her hair in a bun, because if she did running, it wouldn't get in her face if she was a real person.

New Uniform for the NZ Commonwealth Team

I made some clothes for the doll using paper. I coloured it in black with a silver fern logo- the silver fren pretty much represents NZ. I made it short sleeved, with mini shorts - that's the normal outfit. I made normal togs with a little logo.

Head of the Commonwealth

Chris says that the current Head of the Commonwealth is Queen Elizabeth II because her dad was the previous Head of the Commonwealth.
It's good to have Queen Elizabeth as Head because she is the ruler of all the countries that speak English.

Menu for Elite Swimmers

Tom says that elite swimmers need to be careful about what they eat, so they don't go fat and sink!
They need to eat loads of fruit, protein including eggs. Swimmers could mix together half Powerade with half water.
Carbohydrates, like chocolate, pasta, and energy drinks, etc, are important so that you can perform at your best.
